{How to [Remove] a Kitchen Sink Drain}


Part 1

Disconnecting the Drain Pipe

1- Loosen the coupling nut that connects the strainer to the drain pipe.

2- Stabilize a spinning strainer in order to eliminate a stubborn nut.

3- Determine the kind of sink strainer you have.

Part 2

Loosening and Removing the Sink Strainer

1- Remove the screws in the locknut if your strainer has them.

2- Use a wide-mouthed wrench to loosen a standard locknut strainer.

3- Loosen and cast off the nut at the backside of a bell washer strainer.

4- Wiggle the sink strainer loose and push it up and out of the sink.

Part 3

Installing a New Sink Strainer

1-Roll out a ring of plumber’s putty and region it round the sink opening.

2-Press the new sink strainer firmly down into the putty ring.

3-Place any blanketed washers and gaskets between the underside of the sink and the locknut or bell housing.

4-Secure the sink strainer into area from below.

5-Connect the drain pipe to the sink strainer.

6-Test for leaks.
